Upgrade of a large timber processing facility.

Upgrade of a large timber processing facility in New Zealand in order to maintain a competitive advantage in domestic timber production. This sawmill upgrade project utilised Mainstream Engineering’s extensive experience in industrial, manufacturing and utility businesses. We speciailise in planning, coordinating and successfully delivering engineering projects just like this one.

The Sawmill Modernisation Project was the integration of several key projects:

• Green Mill Trim Line, Grading & Scanning
• Bin Sorter, Stacker & Outfeed, Strapping
• Timber Treatment
• Scanning Optimisation
• Site infrastructure services (chipping, electrical, fire systems, compressed air, stormwater & drainage, site access & roading)
• Reliability
• Safety guarding

Mainstream Engineering were requested to work closely with the client and the lead contractor Skookum Technologies to provide the following services to support the successful delivery of this significant project:

• Project scoping and specification
• Budget development, control updating, finalisation & reporting
• Scope of Works
• Tender Request for Proposal (RFP) development and evaluation
• Detailed planning, scheduling and critical path management
• People supervision and leadership
• Health and safety management, monitoring and reporting
• Machine safety guarding audit, report & recommendations
• Manufacturing and construction monitoring & reporting
