Mainstream Engineering (MEL) is a dynamic consultancy offering mechanical maintenance engineering, project management, mechanical design, draughting and 3D modelling services to domestic and international clients.

Utilising the latest in 2D draughting and 3D modelling software along with practical know-how, our aim is to provide first class services to meet the needs of the production and manufacturing industry.

To assist with an abundance of project management, mechanical engineering and design work we are seeking an experienced, innovative Mechanical Engineer who takes pride in exceeding customer expectations and has proven engineering and leadership skills.

With our growing team, we require a competent engineer to assist the Engineering Team Manager in leading the Engineering team and to provide technical direction and advice to the engineers and draughting team members.

We are located in Kawerau, in the sunny Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Key skills for this role include:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven conceptual understanding of what is required to meet clients needs.
  • An ability to guide and mentor staff towards achieving quality and practical solutions.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Senior level experience with Experience in Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage and/or other heavy industry.
  • Proven contractor management experience.
  • Technically competent in pressure equipment and/or piping design and analysis.
  • Ideally will be experienced with FEA and/or CFD.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products and ideally a capability to use MS Project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 7+ years experience
