Mainstream Engineering (MEL) is a dynamic consultancy offering mechanical engineering, project management, mechanical design, drafting and 3D modelling services to domestic and international clients. MEL are also proud to hold AEWV – Accredited Employer Work Visa approval from NZ Immigration.

Utilising the latest in 3D modelling software along with practical know-how, our aim is to provide first class services to meet the needs of the production and manufacturing industry. To assist with an abundance of project management, mechanical, and design work we are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our growing team.

This role is based at our head office, situated at the entranceway to the Industrial Park in Kawerau, Eastern Bay of Plenty. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

Key skills and attributes for this role include:

• Level 6 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Highly proficient in 3D Draughting with experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor or Solidworks
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Experience in an engineering consultancy environment
• Experience in full project lifecycle delivery.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence
• Willingness to take on responsibility and make decisions with a passion for exceeding customer expectations
• Innovative thinking, with a practical approach and an aspiration to make a positive impact within a supportive team
• Self-motivated with a work ethic of continuous improvement
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to interface with customers and colleagues on a professional level
