About the Role:
Joining our well-established team of mechanical engineers, this role will require complex problem solving, creativity, technical knowledge and a good understanding of machinery, plant, and structures. By utilising your engineering qualifications and relevant experience you will be given opportunity to engage in a wide variety of projects across our wide client base.

Training and support will be provided via the MEL Graduate Development Program to ensure you develop quickly as a professional engineer and provide opportunities to accelerate your career.

Utilising the latest “tools”, along with a strong practical know-how, you will contribute to our vision to provide first class engineering services to meet the needs of the various industries we support.

Key skills for this role include:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation – drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Understanding of Mechanical First Principles, FEA, CFD.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence.

MEL is based at the entrance to the Industrial Park in Kawerau, Eastern Bay of Plenty. With much of the team residing in Whakātane, or surrounding areas such as Ōhope, the ~30-minute commute is an easy drive, and carpooling is an option.
Within 40 minutes of the place of work is world renowned mountain biking (Rotorua), one of NZ’s best beaches (West End, Ōhope), various lakes, fantastic hiking, deep sea or trout fishing, and some of the best hunting areas across the wider North Island.
