June 2009

Hello all,

We would like to introduce our new staff, our services and invite you to visit us at our new offices in Kawerau (see photo above).

‘Getting the best performance out of the equipment you have’

We know that now, more than ever, your business needs cost-saving mechanical maintenance solutions.  We save our clients time and money though our innovative design and maintenance services that will optimise and prolong the life of your existing machinery.

We provide mechanical design, project management, drafting and maintenance engineering solutions. Combine our design solutions with 3D modelling, strain gauging and non destructive testing (NDT) services and we can provide you with the complete mechanical maintenance package.

Call the Mainstream team on (07) 323 9003 or email enquiry@mainstreameng.co.nz

Our new staff

Existing Mainstream staff, Darrin and Dianne Hawkes, have been joined by engineers Rob Jackson and Chris Matthews, draughtsman Brian Robinson, planner Keith Rayment and myself, Neil Mower, business development manager.

Neil Mower is our project and business development manager with maintenance and shutdown management experience. Brian Robinson, our senior draughtsman and CAD specialist creates 3D models and construction drawings. Rob Jackson is a mechanical engineer specialising in project and critical path management.

Keith Rayment is a senior planner with MS Project expertise and Chris Matthews is an electrical and mechanical engineer. Photos of Chris and Keith will be in the next newsletter

Our services

Our mission is to get the best performance out of the equipment you have. In addition to our existing services of project design and management, our team can identify and resolve the causes of repeat failures to achieve optimal, reliable and safe operation. This is further enhanced by the addition of the following services:

3D modelling and animation

  • Using the latest 3D modelling and draughting software we create accurate models of your project or plant.
  • Animated 3D models, of assembly and operation, are ideal for demonstration and training purposes.
  • 3D pipe and cable routes demonstrate layouts, identify conflicts and quickly generate manufacturing drawings and materials lists.
  • Throughout the design and analysis process you can easily view, rotate, mark-up or measure your 3D model via email or a secure internet website.

Simulation

  • We use finite element analysis (FEA) software to simulate loads, motion and temperature so we can subject a model of your equipment or design to similar conditions that it could experience during operation.
  • We then analyse and identify opportunities for improved reliability or performance.

Strain gauging

  • Strain gauging is essential for optimising equipment, predicting performance and identifying potential causes of failure.
  • Strain gauging measures the actual elastic stretch or strain of materials, and mechanical stresses, as load or pressure is applied to a part or equipment e.g. rotating drive equipment, structural supports and pressure vessels.
  • On dynamic loads we also carry out vibration analysis of the load to identify cause or stress amplitudes.

IANZ accredited non destructive testing (NDT)

  • We select and apply NDT techniques to develop efficient equipment inspection procedures.
  • We perform or manage the inspection works and provide a thorough assessment and condition report.
